CUBS President

Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am the current President of CUBS. I am a fourth year Kinesiology student at UBC with an interest in sociocultural and gender studies. I have been with CUBS since 2023 as a Tutor, then Associate Director, and am now beyond excited to be taking on the role of President to help CUBS grow even further. When I’m not buried under research papers or supporting the amazing CUBS team, you can find me crafting, writing, or tending to my jungle of houseplants.

I am a fourth year Microbiology and Immunology major here at UBC! My primary hobby is drawing and one day I aspire to become either a paediatrician or an obstetrician-gynaecologist.

Lindsay Der (She/Her)

Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay and I am a fourth-year Biology student at UBC with a minor in Microbiology & Immunology. Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of tutoring both WS and science with CUBS, and I’m excited to step into the role of WS AD for the upcoming school year. Outside of academics, I love skiing, hiking, and golfing!

I’m a 4th-year kinesiology student who loves both the sciences and the arts equally. I’m passionate about learning and helping others discover the joy in it too. Outside of school, you’ll usually find me cycling, writing, or getting lost in some random newfound interest. Curiosity and creativity keep me going.

Yasmeen Jalil (She/Her)

Hey there! I’m a fourth year Kinesiology student minoring in chemistry at UBC. I am a huge science nerd, passionate about accessible learning opportunities. Previously, I founded and ran Youreka Vancouver, a research program for high schoolers. I also give science lessons to school classes. I started with CUBS as a science tutor in 2024 and am excited to continue on as the Science AD.

I work as a research assistant (mouse personal trainer), studying epigenetics in skeletal muscle. In my free time I love to read, lift weights, and run (I completed my first marathon this year)!

Eduardo Moran Jimenez (He/Him)

Director of Human Resources

Hello, I’m Eduardo from the beautiful country of Mexico. I’m pursuing my Master’s in Human Development, Learning, and Culture at UBC, with a focus on Social and Emotional Learning. My main interest is creating conditions for intentional growth in youth and adults across professional, community, relational, and personal domains—and the connections between them. Learning, talking, reflecting, chilling, creating, and enjoying are my favourite activities to experience.

Hi everyone, I’m Osho! I recently graduated from UBC with a BSc in Biology and am now enrolled as a non-degree student completing prerequisites for a master’s program I plan to pursue at UBC next year. I’m passionate about science outreach, youth mentorship, and inclusive health education. As Outreach Marketing Director with CUBS, I’m excited to strengthen community engagement and foster meaningful connections between students and vulnerable populations. Outside of academics, I enjoy drawing and playing badminton.
